Don't fence me in

Celle-là alors me jette dans des abîmes de perplexité to say the least!

You might want to change the title to "Let's get into trouble".

Are you attempting to increase the number of men who visit your blog? ;)

Flocon a dit…

Thanks for the correction.
That's what got me confused:

"Yesterday
All my troubles seemed so far away
Now it looks as though they're here to stay
Oh, I believe
In yesterday"

"Are you attempting to increase the number of men who visit your blog?"

It's amazing how many visits I receive from people wanted to see what's behind certain pictures that I use.

Lately it's been the photo of Nathalie Clifford Barney who drew dozens of visitors to the How American lesbians perverted etc. post.

And also the pictures of two willies for the circumsition post have had quite a number of visitors to the blog whereas the pictures were in place for some hours only and have disappeared since.

Oh, give me land, lots of land under starry skies above,
Don't fence me in.

Oh, give me land, lots of land under starry skies above,
Don't fence me in.
Let me ride through the wide open country that I love,
Don't fence me in.
Let me be by myself in the evenin' breeze,
And listen to the murmur of the cottonwood trees,
Send me off forever but I ask you please,
Don't fence me in.

Just turn me loose, let me straddle my old saddle
Underneath the western skies.
On my Cayuse, let me wander over yonder
Till I see the mountains rise.

I want to ride to the ridge where the west commences
And gaze at the moon till I lose my senses
And I can't look at hovels and I can't stand fences
Don't fence me in.

I've known for a long time that you possess paranormal skills Anijo and here is another evidence.

I presume the only reason that you linked to that song (which I didn't know of) was the "fence" word in the Rolling Stones' title.

That makes sense indeed and the forecoming post will be about freedom but I didn't think of the freedom Cole Porter had in mind in the first place and now I realize it's about the same freedom the R.S' song is all about.

Cole Porter would probably have been slightly surprised with the picture of the girls and yet it's spot on!

There are many covers of the song available on YouTube with ABBA, Ella Fizgerald, Louis armstrong an even one with our Mireille Mathieu!!!

A delight for Xtine and ZapPow I'm sure...

Also I've learned the words cayuse, hovel, yonder and hobbles.

What an educational morning you've provided me with my morning cups of cafe Anijo ;-)

Anonyme a dit…

Oh, that cover with Mireille Mathieu and Dean Martin was indeed delightful. Mathieu is adorable!

Yes, and it seemed to fit in with the overall feeling of their Sittin' on a Fence.

When I wrote "A delight for Xtine and ZapPow I'm sure..." I was being sarcastic.

You may know that Mireille Mathieu, who's been around for 45 years, is the epitom of poor taste and tackyness (does the word exist even if I'm not here to observe it? Does tackyness exist with a life of its own? Hmmm... Those metaphysical questions Mireille Mathieu raises...) in the eyes of the so-called "intellectuals" but not only them.

It's not her voice but the image she carries along. She doesn't seem to have much in her brain either.

She sang the Marseillaise next to Sarko when the gnome was elected in May 2007.

She's very popular in Germany and Japan and maybe elsewhere. My friend tells me she sometimes performed in the US but I doubt she's much popular in your country.

Of course everyone knows her in France but she definitively is tacky and I doubt that Ned, who's fond of old French songs has much interest in Mireille Mathieu.

Did you know that song by the Rolling Stones?

And well, I have to write that post...

Anonyme a dit…

I don't know anything about Mathieu being tacky. She has a lovely voice and she's cute. I guess I'm not that critical.

No, I was not aware of that Rolling Stones song!

Flocon a dit…

"I was not aware of that Rolling Stones song!"

Because you were too young sweety.

One who definitively wasn't tacky is Serge Gainsbourg (here with Jane Birkin)

Flocon a dit…

And we see why the Don't fence me in song linked to by Anijo was appropriate

Flocon,

Anonyme a dit…

Je m'en fou pas mal if someone is or is not married. It does not concern me nor do I ever think about the institution of marriage except for its legal ramifications. In the U.S. partners who are gay need marriage unless the state in which they live has provisions for a legal union.

I am even less emotional than "je m'en fou". To each their own, different strokes for different folks. If someone is or is not married, be they gay or straight, has no effect whatsover on my own life, therefore, my opinion on this topic is of no significance.

Well, Christopher Hitchens was an ardent supporter of the war in Iraq! And yet he has a lot of interesting ideas.

A musician/singer/artist should be judged on their art, not on their political views.

Flocon a dit…

Christine,

Flocon a dit…

Anijo,

About Mireille Mathieu being awarded the Légion d'honneur, you miss the context.

Christine mentions Madame de La Fayette who was the first French novelist of our literature and who was made fun of by Sarko 4 years ago.

He did so in order to indicate he was not an intellectual and that the commons could trust him, he was like them.

He was just boasting his ignorance since he's a total ignoramus as pertains anything even remotely associated with the word "culture".

Sarko deriding Mme de La Fayette and giving Mireille Mathieu la Légion d'honneur would be like Obama making fun of, say, William Faulkner and granting Julien Bieber the medal of artistic achievement for the lyrics of his songs.

I know it doesn't compare but you get the idea.

Mireille Mathieu may possess a good voice but her brain is filled with water and she really, really is tacky.

The comparison with Hitchens is insulting to him...

Now as you say, to each their own...

------------

"my opinion on this topic is of no significance."

Your opinion is always signifiant Anijo ☺

Anonyme a dit…

The comparison with Hitchens is insulting to him...

T'as raison.

And speaking of Christopher Hitchens here is an interesting recent interview.

For you, Flocon, here is the transcript

Ned Ludd a dit…

I just saw on tv news that 6% of the PACs in France are between homosexuals.

Flocon a dit…

Ned,

"I just saw on tv news that 6% of the PACs in France are between homosexuals."

A very, very low figure indeed, which implies that 94% of PASCsed people are heterosexual...

Flocon a dit…

"Are you attempting to increase the number of men who visit your blog? ;)"

Right you were Anijo. Everyday since the post appeared, there are 2, 3 or 4 visits to this post lured to the blog by this picture.

From all over the world. Some stay 1 second as soon as they realize it's in French, some others 20 seconds just to read the post.

No latter than this morning someone (he may be a she after all) from Romeovile (yes!) in Illinois stayed from 06:16:04 until 06:16:22

Anonyme a dit…

Hmmm.. someone from Ohio was no doubt just disappointed.. lol

Flocon a dit…

Waow! That was already two years ago and as I wrote in my last comment above, every day a dozen visitors want to have some more information about lesbians and what they do when they're by themselves...

Just, how do you know the last one to be disappointed was from Ohio? (in between another one has arrived from Germany -which is very unusual)

Another of your paranormal skills and powers?
