The speed of light

SemperFi was hoping that we might all each propose our individual understandings of what is reality. Likewise, I'd find it illuminating to have each of us define space time.

Anijo, I am currently going through a lack of inspiration period. I have fleeting ideas for new posts but they don't materialize.

That one (the speed of light, that is) is meant to (possibly) interest the scientific brains of the blog and I'm not one of them.

I have a fleeting idea yes but don't exactly know what to do with.

One paradox I am still confused by is that the universe is expanding faster than the speed of light. That is why in 100 billion years or so, all galaxies will have lost the possibility to be observable to the others. Apparently this is due to dark energy, which we know nothing about except that it must exist and makes up 70+% of our universe.

I'm afraid I won't write that post which again had too ambitious a goal when I was struck with the original idea...

Basically I wanted to put emphasis on the time gap that exists between individuals who see each others with a near unfathomable but yet existing delay (My eyes perceive someone across the street 1 billionth of a nanosecond after the light has been reflected on h/h body).

And the same goes for the sound that is emitted etc.

The Japanese image is here because "Ukiyo-e" means floating image.

The whole (very vague) idea would have revolved around the Bouddhist concept of impermanence but at the end of the day this was above my feeble ken.

Ned,

This theme will be met again in the Time out post...

In 100 billion years or so...

Where are these 100 billions years or so (make it 200 billions if you want) but in your brain? One thing's sure, they're not in your knee nor on your shoulder and even less in the drawer of my kitchen.

It must be a long time since you opened that drawer.
