Mixed Nuts

For the umpteenth time tonight there has been a rerun of the French movie Le Père Noël est une ordure on French TV. The flick is drawn from an extremely successful 1979 play. The movie has attained a cult status in France. It's just silly and totally unpretentious but quite effective.

Just, I had no idea an American remake had been directed in 1994 by no less than Nora Ephron with Steve Martin and Madeleine Kahn. I'm sorry to say I had never heard of that actress before. John Steward also is part of the cast.

Apparently the movie didn't make it in the U.S although the viewers' comments aren't all that negative.

The scene in the elevator exists in the original version and features a very well-known French actress, Josiane Balasko who, for the sake of it, is married to the American actor George Aguilar.

Madeline Kahn is one of my favorite actresses. She's a beautiful comedian. I enjoyed her particularly in Young Frankenstein.

I'm so sorry about what happened in your beautiful city and also very sorry for all of the journalists. :(

Thanks for your kind message Anijo;

You may remember I live in the 11th arrondissement where the attack took place.

At about 12am I was riding a Vélib' in the direction of the Philarmonie of Paris which is due to be inaugurated next week. I was in the rue de Meaux where at one point a car was cordoned off by the police with its rear window smashed.

Hmmm... I thought there must have been a traffic incident but no other car or moped was in sight.

I rode behind the car on the spot from where this pic was taken and went on to my destination.

Just 2 hours later did I learn about the attack and that the car I had seen was the one the terrorists had used about 10 minutes before I was here and 12 men had lost their lives...

You may be aware that Europeans by and large are fed up to their back teeth with Muslim immigration, be it in France, Scandinavia, the UK, Germany (Turks), Italy etc. and no longer can stand the P.C discourse about the religion of peace, love, and tolerance.

The National Front in France or the UKIP in G.B among others don't plan to invade Poland or exterminate anybody but they express the absolute exasperation of the peoples who feel their politicians all over Europe have betrayed them.

Keep well Anijo ;-)

I'm really concerned about how you're doing Flocon. I hope that you provide an update as soon as is possible.

I am just fine Anijo, athough I've learned another 4 persons have been assassinated by another Islamist nut in a shop at the Cours de Vincennes (between Nation where my compagnon lives and place de Vincennes) at the very edge of Paris toward the Bois de Vincennes.

My two personal problems these days are quite minor: A sore throat and a lack of Internet connexion which has led me to quit my current provider and go to another one. I'm afraid it will take some days (weeks?) before I can post as usual on the blog grrrr....

And this post of yours comes rather late. It seems that even what you post is delayed.. grrr... I hope that you get your internet connection taken care of soon... In the mean time, I'll wait patiently for an update from you.

What I'm saying is that you must have learned about what happened at Hyper-Cacher earlier than just now... Anyway, I can imagine that you're in a very complex state of mind. Sending you all of my very best wishes.
